When did you do something healthy just for you, the teacher and educator who is usually too busy taking care of everyone else?

Well, teaching will always be a need and planning will always be there, too, so...

Start a Smart Teaching Lifestyle today with little steps to preserve your health so you are around to teach for many years to come!

1. Make it a point to get up and move at least once per hour and make your students do it, too...

+ Stretch Breaks for all...5 minutes stretching & moving benefits all!

EXAMPLE OF SOMETHING FUN...AND SOMETHING WE ALL DO...

SAVE RUNNING TO THE MAILBOX FOR A BREAK RUN WHEN YOU ARE WORKING ON YOUR RESEARCH AND PLAN TO GO FOR A 15-30 MINUTE WALK TO GET THE MAIL, THEN GO BACK TO YOUR RESEARCH WRITING WITH A RENEWED SENSE OF PURPOSE!

2. Bring healthy snacks into your life for breaks like filling the fridge with:
apples, oranges, grapes, peaches or even grapefruit for those watching calories!

3. Take your break by taking time for you!  It is your break after all!

+ Go for a walk down to the school gym and back, outside!
+ Take a few moments to read from a book you want to read and relax!
+ As a peer or colleague to go for a walk with you!
+ Make yourself a cup of tea or a relaxing drink and sit in the quiet of
your classroom and don't do anything, just enjoy some quiet time
for you for a change of pace.

4.  Remember that it is up to you to take care of you because others can't
take care of our health for us.

5.  See the next tab in this section for information on the
KDP ABC's of Wellness Book for more great ideas on
how to remember to take care of you!
