-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New AEX KDP Advanced Chapter Model Description -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This model is designed for chapters with many members who want a rich and active student organization experience. Our AEX Chapter has over 100 members from the 1st of 3 Chartering Year Initiations and presently has over 200 more applications in review for the 2nd of 3 Chartering Year Initiations which will be held in Dallas, TX in January 2010 during the residencies, most likely on Thursday, January 21st, 2010, during an evening initiation event.
The Advanced Model requires: A faculty counselor – AEX has: Dr. Daniel Salter, Chapter Counselor and Dr. Joe Ann Hinrichs, Chapter Associate Counselor; Seven elected officers – AEX has 9 Officers, Four committees – AEX has 8 Committees including: Communications/Publications Committee, Website Committee, Newsletter Committee, Programming Committee, Membership Committee, Awards Committee, Historical Committee and Fundraising/Scholarships Committee, Two initiations yearly – AEX has 3 at the present time, Four chapter meetings - AEX is planning quarterly online meetings and has held one meeting prior to each initiation and is planning one prior to each future initiation, Four chapter programs – AEX is working on a program for presentation at residencies, local-regional-state and international joint programs for education at a variety of levels, a fundraising programs to raise funds for our scholarships and national scholarships, developed our own Website, developed our own Membership Recruitment Program, and development of our own Mentor Program with more programs in planning, and, One fund-raiser for an education program – AEX is working on designation of an education program for each quarter with the future ideal of being able to support one education program per month in the future with our Honored Education Program of the Month to receive support with fundraising for their program (examples include local school libraries, local school programs, regional conferences for educators, state programs for educators, summer programs for leadership training of educators and students, international programs for educators and students, etc.)
This model works well in circumstances when the institution has: *a total college/department of education enrollment of more than 1,000 students; *chapter size is more than 50 members; *chapter has many students who want leadership positions; and, *chapter has both graduate and undergraduate members.
