Membership in Kappa Delta Pi gives you more than a line on a resume. The Society
provides resources and services at each stage of your career to help you become
and remain a better educator. You can access essential tools and programs that
give you an edge in looking for a job, pursuing graduate study, or facing everyday
issues and challenges in the classroom. As a member, you can build networks at
your college, in the community, and across the country to share expertise, advice,
and support. By embracing chapter participation and leadership, you can gain
essential skills and learn how to become an effective teacher who will influence
positive change wherever your career leads you.
Eligibility Requirements for Membership
Undergraduate Students
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
be enrolled in an institution offering an education degree
and have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field
of education;
•
demonstrate leadership attributes;
•
have completed at least 30 credit hours of collegiate
course work;
•
have at least 12 credit hours in education course work
programmed, in progress, or completed;
•
demonstrate a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or
greater; and
•
receive an invitation to membership from the chapter at
the college where you are currently enrolled.
Graduate Students
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
be enrolled in an institution offering an education degree
and have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field
of education;
•
demonstrate leadership attributes; and
•
provide evidence of completion of a bachelor’s degree in
education and have earned a 3.25 cumulative GPA or provide evidence of at
least 15 credit hours in graduate education course work in progress or
completed and a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Doctoral Students
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
be enrolled in an institution offering an education degree
and have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field
of education;
•
demonstrate leadership attributes; and
•
show evidence of work toward a doctoral degree in
education.
Practicing Educators (K–12 Teachers) and Education Professionals To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
show evidence that you obtained a degree in education and
met the appropriate cumulative GPA requirement or submit a letter of
recommendation for membership in KDP from a supervisory administrator or show
evidence of being Nationally Board Certified or a nationally award-winning
teacher;
•
demonstrate leadership attributes; and
•
have the intent to continue academically or professionally
in the field of education.
Administrators
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
demonstrate leadership attributes;
•
have the intent to continue academically or professionally
in the field of education; and
•
show evidence that you are employed in an administrative
position.
University Faculty
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
demonstrate leadership attributes;
•
have the intent to continue academically or professionally
in the field of education; and
•
show evidence that you are employed in a university
faculty position.
Retirees
To be eligible for membership, you must:
•
be aged 55 or older; and
•
be retired for at least one year and not be working
full-time in education.
